My 5 Fall beauty essentials (Guest post)

Hello!!

At the beggining of this week I did a guest post over Penniless Socialite about my 5 beauty fall essentials. If you don't know her check her out.

Here is the post so you all can read it =) I had so much fun doing it!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there!

My name is Bea and I blog over at Daily Living in Geneva. It's my first guest post ever and I'm really excited about it!

Today I want to talk about my 5 beauty essentials/favourite beauty trends for Fall.

So here we go!

I want to be fashionista!

Today's post is about fashion. Like If I had a clue about it or about the meaning of fashion itself. Because we are always told what's IN and what's OUT every season and stores define their collections based on those patterns.

But what's fashion really?

I don't care much about what happens in the runaways to be honest but one of my favourite hobbies is to look at clothes online. There are many things I like and often I make a mental wish list of those things. I want them and I imagine myself wearing them and being so "well styled" (tellement élégant...).

Deep in my heart I know I want to be fashionista. I am somehow a fashionista. I'd want to be able to pull out this outfits...

Well, here I have to recognize I'd actually paired the outfit with these other shoes from H&M...

I don´t think I have a defined style but I'd say I tend to go for practical and comfy. Maybe if in my late teens I had another budget or inspiration, now my style would be different. Even If I'm still practical I'm starting to be more exclusive now with what I buy. The thing for me is that at the end, it isn´t even a matter of budget but more of where would I go dressed like that according to my life style and the environment I am in.

And you? do you have a defined style?
Are you crazy about trends or you prefer doing your own thing?
What's fashion for you?

If you have done a fashion post lately leave it in the comments  so I make sure I'll check it out =)

Quick post today!

I can't believe I haven't done this post before.

I'm sure you all know Paige from Eloping Stethoscope and if you don't you definitely need to go and check her out. She is a very active person- in her daily life and the blogging community- I'll always see her participating in guest posts, group giveaways, link ups...so far she has always answer my comments, tweets etc...She is so energetic that it feels very refreshing to read her. Besides, her posts about nursing school remind me of a friend of mine that is a nurse and what she used to tell me when she was in nursing school =)

She also has a shop where she sales hand made jewelry (I've been eyeing some really cute pieces lately) and blog designs packages. In my particular case she designed for me a blog planner!!(check sample photos)

It has everything you could think off. As soon as I ordered it she contacted me to ask me more details and further information about what I wanted. I had no clue of what would be useful for me being at a really early stage of my blog but she oriented me and suggested what could be the best option. More than that, I had the planner waiting in my mail box the next morning!! Oh have I said that knowing that I was interested she tweeted me to let me know she had a sale going on and I got 20% off (If I remember right)!!

Extra points for efficiency and amazing customer treatment!

If lifes gets busy, maybe a blog planner is all you are looking for...or anyhow, just check her out because she is great!

Do spiders "feel" fear?

I just killed a little spider. YES, I'm a spider killer.

Being biologist, I should respect and adore all God's creatures and the metaphors that they inspire (Can you guess where these words came from? =P) but spiders fall into a completely different category for me.

It isn´t even that a fear them, because I feel more disgust than fear. My heartbeat rises and even if I don't want to look at them and let them be, I can't stop looking right at and thinking about them. I won't be able to sleep, eat, shower or anything knowing that there is a spider in the same room as me.

If on top of that the spider starts moving...I'd tart freaking out inside and in the extreme I could even end up vomiting (for the record, I've never got to that point but I do feel like vomiting).

So imagine that I'm home alone all happy and relaxed in bed with my computer and I raise my head a moment to see a little spider suspended from the roof at the level of my eyes in the middle of the bed. Deni is not around to kill the spider so I try to be brave and kill it myself with some kitchen paper. It is the spider or my peace of mind. I start approaching- not too much tho- and stare at the spider for a few minutes with my heart pounding. When I finally get the courage to raise my hands and squeeze it between the kitchen paper what happens? The spider freaks out and starts going back to the roof as fast as she can. At this point, my heart is at the pitch of my stomach. I need to kill it! Even if it's tiny because now that I realize, the spider was at that same spot yesterday too! So I grab a flip-flop and...R.I.P.

Deni always tells me that one day I'd have to answer on the other side for all these unnecessary deaths. But I tell him that there are more of their type in the world than human beings. Not that this fact gives me the right to kill them but...

It isn´t the first time I try to kill a spider and all of the sudden it starts running away.
Do spiders know that I want to kill them?
Is my crazy pounding heart what alerts them?
Do spiders "feel" my fear?

Are you afraid of something?
How do you deal with it?
=)

Me, Myself & I Link up party!

I found this link up today and thought it was really fun so here we go!

Questions:

1. When you are feeling down, what do you do to pick yourself up?
In no specific order: eat, sleep, hug my boyfriend, high volume music, crying...yes,     crying!because sometimes you just need to let yourself go a bit to come up stronger!!

2. If you had to live in a different time period which would you prefer?
When I was little I really wanted to be a princess so I'd say some time in the spledoreus years of the French or English Empire (despite hygene)...but at the same time I love today's technology, so I don't know!

3.What's the most creative halloween costume you've ever worn?
I don't remember a halloween costume, but I have this one from last Carnaval =) (My mom made it. I'm a middle age princess, tho people say it looks like a wedding dress!)

4. Five weird things about you we wouldn't know without being told?
- I'm really bad at video games
- I'm a complete american TV shows sucker.
- I like to mix french fries and sunday (The mix of hot/cold and Sweet/Salty it is really interesting).
- I remeber certain conversations so well that even after some time I could still tell you what exactly you said and what you were wearing so...watch out! =P
- In other life I probably was a shopaholic. In this life I struggle with the ups and downs of rehab.

5. What would you tell your 16-year-old self?
- To take way more care about our skin. At 24 I'll really appreciate it.
- To worry less about what people at school think or say about me.
- You are actually good at learning foreign lenguages.
- To fall less in love of our b/f at the time. At 23 you'll find a really, really good one =)
- To look less into the past and enjoy more the present.
- Not to want to grow so fast, be crazy and enjoy more being teen.
- It is good to try to be so strong but you have to learn how to deal with pain and to let yourself grieve. It is OK not to be ok.
- Our mother is so particular and we have such a define character that we will always collide. But don't worry, do your thing because it eventually gets better =)

So yeah!Hope you like it!
Go and link up!

My breakfast routine!

I've always been a person of coffee and cereals in the morning. In fact, I used to eat probably the most weird breakfast combination: a big bowl of milk with coffee and cereals. Like that, all mixed together since I didn't have time to take cereals and coffee separately.

The thing is that in the last year I've been trying to cut off milk and milk products as much as possible out of my diet (I should probably make a separate post about this) and cereals don't really keep me full and going until lunch anyways. About coffee, I still take it sometimes but not anymore in daily basis. I stopped one day and lost the habit and now I don't really feel the need of coffee to start my day anymore.

So here is my new breakfast routine =)

- 2 toasts of "pain complet"+ 1 banana (or any other fruit) + some kind of green tea (sometimes a mix two types together).

Deni thinks I should add one boiled egg but it feels like too much for me to take one egg every day...

So yeah! I don't know if it is healthy or equilibrated enough but for the moment it works for me as it really keeps me full all morning.

Are you a breakfast person?
or on the contrary you prefer to start your day with an empty stomach?
What's your favourite healthy on the go breakfast?

My first Social Sunday link up!

Hello, Hello!!

We came back from Prague a few hours ago. I'm in bed with the computer, our windows are open and it's warm a sunny in Geneva (Surprisingly!), the sun warms up our kitchen while Deni makes Pasta bolognese...

I really liked Prague and the vacations but I was starting to miss our "little home". I haven't had really the chance to enjoy our new place since we moved in with all this travelling.

I <3 it!

Sunday Social
1. 5 items you can't live without on a daily basis (water, food, shelter and clothes don't count)
My phone, my Naked Style Miracle worker leave-in conditioner (review), a hair elastic, chapstick/gloss and my debit card.

2. All time favourite book? why?
Probably my all time favourite series it is the "Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon. I wash introduced to them by a sweet friend of mine, Erica, back when I did my junior year of high school in Canada. They have everything you could ask for history, romance, relationships, honor, time travel, magic, medicine, sex, passion, hope, despair, betrayal...I highly, highly recommend this series!

3. Something you'd like to accomplish before the end 2012
I've said this before...ending my master's thesis. It is all I ask for.

4. If you could go back and relive any year of your live which year would it be?
Honestly...this one. The one I'm living right now =).

5. What do you wish people knew about you without you having to tell them?
That if I love them and they disappoint me, I'll feel heartbroken. And that I want to get crazy and have fun more than the daily obligations allow me.

Next Weeks Questions:
1. What is something you have wanted to do but are afraid of?
2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
3. What are you looking forward to before the end of 2012?
4. What are your hopes for your blog?
5. Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city?
6. What is your morning routine

Madrid shoes Haul Pt 2!

Here is part 2 of my shoes haul from Madrid!

Most of them were bought by my mum for my birthday. The rest I bought it myself. Being from last seasons, I found them for really good deals and that's why we could by so many. Also, since Geneva is so expensive, if ever one my shoes brokes I don't really have the change to just get out there and by a new one...
So...here we go!

Madrid Shoes Haul Pt 1!

Salut!

I'm back in Geneva, but not for long!Probably when this post goes up I'll be enjoying Prague...I can't wait! =)

Now, talking about Madrid, one of the things that is worth buying is shoes! And between my mum and I, now I have a pretty big number of new shoes for the fall! I don't know if you woud like them or find them in-trend or not. To be honest against winter cold, I prefer to stay practical and warm. Also, if I got as many pairs it is because all were last seasons or my number was the last one in stock.
As soon as I got home I started taking pictures for this post!
Want to take a look?...

Ok!!

Madrid, normally means "shopping". So expect upcoming hauls posts!

Shoes and clothes would have to wait. All my shoes are already packed and I did pictures of the clothes already but for some reason the colors don't stay true in the pictures. I think it might be the background of my room because I've tried with natural light, artificial light, flash, no flash...

So as a start I would talk about beauty related products.

If you ever come to Spain, make sure you check supermarkets "Mercadona". Mercadona is an important chain of supermarkets that enhances the presence of their own brands, maintaining a minimum of external brands. Talking about beauty or toiletries type of products, the line you have to keep in mine is "Deliplús".

Delplús has a wide range of products that cover hair care, skin care, body care, make-up, accessories, perfumes...all with amazing economical prizes!!

Ask any Spanish girl if she likes something from Deliplús and probably she would list you quite a few things!

Normally I like to stock body and hair care products, but this time I decided to grab just some basic things I needed...

Madrid part 1

Hola amigos! (Can I be more typical? haha)

I don´t know if you know, but if you don´t I will be telling you right now, I'll be in Madrid until next Tuesday.

I came to visit my family, specially my parents for their 25th wedding anniversary (Woho!for love 25 years after) and to celebrate with them my 24th anniversary. Both dates are one day apart...so yeah you can do the math =)

Madrid received me an hour latter, courtesy of Easyjet, with blue skye and glorious sunshine and 4,50€ metro ticket from the airport to my house (3€ more than 2-3 years ago...).

Every time I go back to Madrid I fall in love oncee again with the city. I really miss walking around in a place where distance becomes relative to me, full of life, full of flavours...

One of the things that bother me the most is when people- in particular french people- tell me that Madrid is ugly. The first time I heard that I was astonished.

 "Madrid, ugly?"
Where did you stay?
For how long?
What did you see?

Ah ok!!
so you were 3 days,
stayed in the old down town
and didn´t see even 1/3 of the city

ok, ok... so it's ugly!

I've had the chance to travel a lot. There are many places I've seen, tho too many still to visit, and that's why I'll understand there are some cities you can like more than others. But from there to postively affirm that having London or Paris the only reason that makes Madrid worth of a visit is the fact that is the capital, because if it has no river, lake or sea and nothing else why would you want to visit it?

Oh boy, French people sometime there are just so over themselves.
It's so closed minded.
And lame, lame, lame...

So if Madrid is not beautiful: Que baje Dios y lo vea.

These are just the pictures I took on my way home from an appoiment.

But hey, maybe I got it all wrong.

After all about different tastes there is nothing written.

Hope you are all having a lovely week!

Like you see my blog has gone through some changes lately and there will be more in the future because I'm having really a lot of fun with it!!I'm even daring to touch de HTLM code.

I haven't decided yet what to do with my banner. On the other hand I'm actually loving the button I did!!
Do you like it? GRAB one! <3

I'm also thinking about getting into sponsoring in my blog. I find it so fun, you connect with people and get to know many blogs. Probably I'll be starting this in October, but just as a small experiment I'd like to...
