John Frieda- full REPAIR- first impression review

I've always been a huge fan of John Frieda's range for brunettes. The hair feels soft, it shines and after a few uses you start getting different brown tones that look lovely under the sun light.

In Europe this brand isn't always easy to find, so I got really excited when I discovered that it is available in Switzerland. To my surprise, however, the products are not consumer friendly when it comes to prize.

I had heard a lot of rave about the products from the full REPAIR line, but due to the prize before jumping into buying them I bougth the travel size of the shampoo and the conditioner...

NAKED STYLE- How I style/take care of my hair

So...I've been asked what do I use to style my hair and this is what I bring you today!!

I was introduce to this brand by my lovely British friend Eleanor (I don't know if she will ever read this, LOL) so when I went to London back in June I decided to give it a look and gave the brand a try. I bought quite a few products using the 3x2 offer they had at Boots but for the moment I'm using only two that I've incorporated to my hair styling routine.

Blogger App Frustration + too many hours of work this week

I broke my posting dynamic of a post every day and a half or two days.

Reason: I'm doing too many extra hours at work this week. Plus, it's been too warm and I haven't been sleeping much. I don't even have the weekend off.

So it's adding up.

I don't know if you remember, but in "What's on my Xperia" (here) post I mentioned the app from Blogger for Android. Let me tell you...

Saturday Day Date with Deni!!=)

Salut les amies!!

It doesn´t happen very often that my boyfriend and I have the chance to spend some quality time together. I mean, we live together (Thanks God!) and we see each other mostly every day but we both work a lot- normally with opposite shifts- and every once in a while he goes back home at Fribourg (1h 1/2 away) to see his family for a few days. If not there is always something else to do: me with my thesis, him with his studies or simply when we finally have a day off either of us if not both, feels to tired to do really anything.

Luckily for us every once in a while we have the chance to breath and let go ourselves a little bit. This Saturday we went out for lunch down town and had a banana split next to the Lac Léman (Geneva Lake) at the Jardin Anglais.

The weather was glorious

Monoi OIL!!

Hello!

I finally I got around to do this post. I discovered this product at the beginning of the summer and since then I can not leave without!!if you are familiar with Coconut Oil then you might find this product interesting.

Monoi Oil or Monoi de Tahití stands for "scented oil". The best known source of monoi today is that produced in Tahití (French Polynesia) made still at the traditional manner from pressed coconut oil macerated with the flowers of the native gardenia, known in locally as Tiaré.
Only

the coconuts from the cocos nucifera species
and the buds of the Gardenia Tahitensis
“Tiare” blossoms are used in the preparation
of Monoï de Tahiti. A m

inimum

of 10 flowers
are soaked for
at least 10 days
in one liter of
coconut oil. It's an amber colored oil liquid that solidifies below 25ºC.

Tahiti has always been part of the Polynesian culture,

whether in traditional rites, in remedies, or as a beauty care
ingredient for body and hair.
Several Components of Monoï de Tahiti are also used in the
traditional medicine of the Polynesian islands. The Tiare blossoms, for
example, are used to cure earaches, certain types of eczema, or simply to
prevent insect bites. Today, Tahitian women are still using Monoï de Tahiti as a
skin moisturizer, a hair protection, and as a daily care product. It's a veritable beauty
secret passed on from generation to generation.

Its status as a natural and unadulterated product was enormously enhanced when the French government fave it the official stamp of "Appellation d'Origine", as a guarantee of authenticity and quality, raising monoi to the level of wine.

It's innumerable properties have been tested and proven in vivo: Skin and eye tolerance, hypoallergenic and hypersensitivity properties, photosensatizing potential to protect the skin against the sun (improves your tan) and external aggressions. Protects, regenerates and enhances the quality of the hair fiber, progressive and long lasting skin moisturization. Tiaré tahití flowers present soothings and purifying active ingredients and mono oil has been proven to have emollient properties. With its delicate fragrance, mono oil is thought to nourish and stimulate your soul and senses.

In my case I use it as body moisturizer, all over body scent because it smells AMAZING, deep nourishing over night treatment for my hair, hair ends treatment between washes, massage oil, mix a tiny drop with my leave in/styling conditioner for more textured curls...

It's Coconut oil upgrade to the next level!!if you don´t like coconut oil smell, then you should give this one a try. The one I use it's from a brand called Corine de Farme, but I know there is another brand called Soleil des iles. Both of them have many different products for body and sun skin care. I believe also Yves Rocher has a monoi Oil line.

*(I haven´t used Coconut Oil since it is not easy to get in Europe, at leaast I haven´t found it, so I can´t say which one would be more effective...)

My favourite concealers!

Hello!

In today's post I'll talk about my two favourite concealers (both are from the drugstore!!!)

Probably you all know Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. It's one of Bourjois best-selling foundations and I've heard so much raving about it that this one would be at the top of my list if I ever my skin decides to be towards the dry side of things. This winter I went to a "dry eye area" phase and not being brave enough to try the foundation, I thought this concealer could work well for me since it is moisturizing- good for my dry area problem- and oil-free anyways so it wouldn´t brake me out (none of the healthy mix foundations are oil free).

This is what they say:
Bourjois’ new Healthy Mix fruit-therapy correcting concealer smoothes away dark circles and imperfections for a visibly rested and radiant look.

    • Apricot > radiance
    • Raspberry > micro-circulation
    • Melon > hydration
Its exquisite glide-on formula blends onto the skin for a natural result, with no marks. Available in 3 natural anti-dull complexion shades, to reboost the complexion's radiance.
And...it's good for the skin: Moisturising, lets skin breathe, oil-free formula, dermatologically tested.
I have color 52 medium radiance. It's a neutral tone that covers and brightens the area very nicely. It doesn´t smudge on me and the staying powder it's pretty good, plus used on regular bases makes the skin under my eyes feel softer!!
My other favourite concealer is Maybelline Pure Cover Mineral concealer. I've been using this for years and I've gone through so many bottles of this and always come back for more. I've seen it being compared with MAC's Mineralize Concealer and even MAC's Moisture Cover (I have not try those so I can´t tell).
Maybelline Pure Cover Mineral Concealer brings the benefits of micro-minerals to a concealer. It uses a perfecting, beautifully blendable mineral enriched formula that produces a natural-looking result, as micro-mineral pigments blend with skin tone for a natural-looking finish, perfect to help cover under eye shadows. The lightweight formula helps cover imperfections rather than accentuate them, so the whole face has a gorgeous, healthy-looking finish.
I absolutely love this stuff. I have the color 02 Natural which is a bit pale for me but still something I can work with. I'm not quite sure if it is oil-free but I haven´t had any issues in that matter. It brights up my eye area without drying and covers flawlessly redness and acne. Multipurpose and easy to blend!! You can't go wrong with this.

Have you tried them? Let me know in the comments which one is your favourite concealer or one I should to try!!!
Share, comment, subscribe please if you like it!<3

Boots BOTANICS (The power of plants) Review

Hello!

Today I want to talk about some products I bought back in June when I went to London on vacation with  my boyfriend.

These products are from the Botanics collection at Boots. The packaging caught my eye and I found the prizes very affordable- I bought them 3x2- so I thought I could give them a try.
Purifying Face Scrub ALL BRIGHT
This cleansing scrub contains refining walnut shell to buff away flaky skin while crushed apricot seeds gently sweep away impurities. Hibiscus is a nature's brightness booster. Natural AHAs help leave skin smoother and brighter. 75 mL 3,99
I actually quite enjoy this scrub. The texture is very cremy and rich, but yet it doesn´t leave my skin feeling oily and the next day I can always tell that my complexion looks brighter. The only thing is that it would be more effective if it had more apricot seeds. I like face scrubs with lots (LOTS!!) of beads and I feel this one is just "ok" in that matter. So I use it in combination with a bit stronger scrub for days that I feel I need and extra boost.

Refreshing Eye Roll-On ALL BRIGHT
This lightweight gel is quickly absorbed to help reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. The fragile under eye area feels immediately cooled and refreshed, while hyaluronic acid provides much needed hydration to dull, delicate skin. Hibiscus is nature's brightness booster and a wonderful hue of pink. Natural AHA's from the flower act as mild exfoliators to help leave skin smoother and brighter. 15mL 5,99
I don´t use this in regular basis simply because I'm lazy and I forget. But when I do use it, normally in the morning after a bad night and lack of sleep, I think it makes a huge difference!!I don´t have really deep dark circles, even in those bad days I have just a bit of darkness with some puffiness and I can see my eye area brighter after I've applied this. I've had the eye roll-on from Garnier and I think this one from Boots is more efective.

Mattifying Gel-Cream SHINE AWAY
Top pic: cream texture + extended crem
Below pic: cream texture + absorved matt cream
This ultra-light gel cream refines and tightens pores and reduces the appearance of imperfections. The clarifying formula delivers balanced hydration to troublesome skin, to reveal skin that is mattified and healthier looking. Non pore blocking. Willowbark is nature's champion clarifier. Excess sebum, pollution and old skin cells can clog up pores, resulting in shine and blemishes. The bark of the willow tree is a natural source of salicylic acid which helps to refine skin texture and actively target imperfections. 50mL 4,99
I'm not quite sure about what I think of this cream. The cream is definately very light, it absorbs quickly and drys to a matt finish, it doesn´t feel heavy in the skin and it keeps the shine away quite well considering the warm weather. Now, I don´t think my skin is more balance in any way or my pores less visable or blocked or my skin more refine. It has not broke me out more than normal, but I can´t say it helps me to clear my skin when my it is a bit worse for other reasons. So honestly, I don´t know! There is supposed to be a version with Spf but I don´t know if I didn´t see it or I decided to skip it.

Boots "Botanicals" Claims
Our beauty scientists use active plant extracts approved by Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, to bring you beautiful skincare that's proven to work. We've taken steps to reduce our impact on the planet at every stage in this product's journey.
  • Formulated without parabens.
  • People tested.
  • Please recycle where possible.

Overall I think is a good brand and the prize range is unbeatable. Plus the fact that it contains natural ingredients makes me feel like I'm being good to my skin. I'm quite curious about the Radiant Youth Microdermabrasion Polish (*)(maybe this one has more beads) and the Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask(*). Too bad that Boots does not sell or ship in Europe outside from the UK. That's such a Pain because they have so much variety and good products at awesome prizes...

Guess I'll have to make UK friends to ship me things. I'll change them for Swiss Chocolate!! hahaha

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

NOTE ASIDE: As much as I like the layout of my blog, I have to recognize it has its inconvenient. Like for example not having side bar or being able to add buttons...I wanted my blog to be simple and easy to keep so I would not get overwhelmed about making it pretty and concentrate in posts, but I feel I might eventually change it just to have all those extra things...I'd need some advice about this, I think...

How I keep my hair healthy! Tips to healthy hair...

Ok!!

So today I will talk about what I do to keep my hair long and healthy...and by the end of this post you will be asking yourself what it is the magic trick!!
But guess what? There is no magic trick at all =) I just follow some simple and basic rules and my hair seems to respond nicely to them. Like always, EVERYONE is different! This is what works for me...

1- Water
In the inside, not the outside. If you wash your hair everyday you are stripping the natural oils produced in your scalp and your hair will be become more dry and prone to breaking and falling. Of course this doesn´t relate to everyone.
- If your hair is really oily then you should wash it as often as need it with the appropriate shampoo (gentle!!) and conditioner since too much oil in the roots can cause hair fall.
- Curly hair has to be washed less often than straight hair since it takes more time for the oils in the scalp to get to the ends and from nature tends to be already dry.
- I find it's better to wash the hair in the morning, but this is totally a personal preference. Like this I can do deep treatments during the night, I don´t go to bed with my hair wet- which is not very recommendable- and I start my days with completely clean a nice smelling hair!(the days I washed it I mean).

In my personal case, since my teens I have always washed my hair every other day because it was really oily. When I first came to Geneva, my hair went to different faces due to the change of water until it turned out to be like it is right now. This is a true fact and so many of my friends agree with me. At first your hair gets really, really oily to the point of having to washed it more often than normal. Then your scalp starts drying out-even if the hair is still oily- and producing dandruff. At the end your hair is dry from scalp to ends. Awesome, eh? Since then I washed my hair every 3 or 4 days. Surprisingly, I get more compliments about my curls when my hair is in its 2nd or 3rd day...

2- Products (I'll talk deeply about the ones I use in future posts!)
Here many people that might not agree with me BUT, I find my hair works best when I use shampoos for normal hair and then I paired them with a really deep conditioner/masks for when I washed my hair, serum in between washes and deep night treatments for the night before I washed my hair. About silicons, organic, natural ingredients, sulphate free...everyone knows what their hair loves most so I'm not going to say "you absolutely have to use this product that is so natural that doesn´t even have shampoo in it!!". I've used natural shampoos and the result has been awful. Normal, gentle plain shampoo that would get your hair clean and shiny. That's really all you need.

Here is my why...
- At some point in time in my "oily hair" period I realize that most drugstore shampoos for oily hair didn´t really leave my hair that clean or helped me to washed it less often. Au contraire, my hair was still oily and drying out. So if I had to wash my hair every two days and the clean effect didn´t last that long I could just use whatever shampoo for normal hair and see what happened. Bon, Voilà!! With time my hair turn out to be not as greasy, more shiny and hydrated.
- Now that my scalp is more normal and my hair is quite dry at times, I still use a shampoo for normal hair for the simple reason that anything for dry hair would make my hair get dirty before, forcing me to washed it more often and not necessarily making it more beautiful (I have tried and no, it doesn´t work).

3- Embracing your natural hair.
Women never seem to be happy with what they have. The one with straight hair wants to curl it and the one with curly hair wants to straight it. However in the pathway to healthy looking hair a good place to start is by working with what you already have by nature and trying to improve it. By doing so you probably will find out that your natural hair is probably really beautiful on its own!

My whole life I've been straighting my hair no matter how long it took me because my hair didn´t have any natural shape (or that I thought). Even if I always tried to protected, I had a lot of split ends- even if my hair wasn´t that long- and probably that was one of the reasons why it was so oily too. I had to dedicate a long time to get a shiny straight result and at the same time it was hard to maintain the volume. If it was windy or there was some humidity in the air my hair turned flat and frizzy!! Opposite to what happens to really curly hair, wavy/curly hair like mine improves with its length. Length gives at the hair the space to curl and form the wave (if that makes sense). I realized that mi hair looks better and actually it goes better with my face structure when its long if I leave in its natural state.

4- Hot tools and brushing.
As long as your hair is healthy and you protect it, you can use any tools you want without abusing. When it comes to brushing, the less the better. When not done properly, brushing can actually cause more damage than good.

I only brush my hair in the shower with a large tooth comb when I have already applied the deep treatment on. When I use to straighten my hair, I used a big paddle brush but it still felt like there was a lot of breakage at the ends. I barely used hot tools anymore, but if I ever use them it's to do touch ups here and there.

4- Diet and Vitamins
A healthy lifestyle will always translate to your physical appearance. I try to eat healthy as much as I can but I don´t always succeed. When it comes to vitamins, when I was in the process of growing out my hair I used to take vitamins complex rich in in Mg2+, Vit E and B combined with something called "levure de bière" (brewer's yeast). Brewer's yeast is particularly rich in protein and essential amino acids, it represents one of the best sources of vegetable protein. It also contains minerals (particularly calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, phosphorus and potassium) and it's extremely rich in vitamins from the B group.

I started seeing results after one month and a half or two and definitely seeing a difference after 3 months. All this vitamins are also good for nails and your skin so your general complexion improves.

5- Trimming your hair
If you want healthy hair, trim your hair often even if your trying to grow it out. When your hair becomes split at the ends, the damage, which starts at the cuticle, will move up your hair until the whole strand is completely damaged. You can prevent this by cutting the split ends before the rest of your hair is affected. Trimming also contributes to maintaining hair volume and shape.

When I was growing my hair out, I used to cut my hair almost every month around 1 cm. It might seem like a lot but actually my hair grows more when it has been freshly cut. Now, that it is more or less the length I want and I don´t use hot tools my hair is really healthy, so I cut it every two months.

Well...this is all there is about how I keep my hair healthy looking and long. There are no miracles. But if you follow a few basic things and you are patient your hair would be very healthy.

Take home msg: Give your hair what he needs and it will become what you want it to be!  =D

Hope you liked it! (I need to learn how to do shorter posts...=P)

Liebster Blog Award

Hello!

I was nominated by I am piscis to do this tag for the Liebster Blog Award. This award is given to new blogguers with less than 200 hundreds subscribers. According to what I am Pisces wrote in her tag, "Liebster" means in German: sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, cute, welcome, endering...such a cool world to learn!=)
Photo from
1- Is this your first time blogging?
Nope, I've actually started two other blogs in the past with not much success. I'm guessing they are still out there somewhere in the net...
2- What's your favorite food?
I like eating so much that I can not pick just one thing...I guess yummy salads, sushi and Chinese food and anything typical from Spain and Mediterranean diet!
3- Do you have any pets? what are their names?
Yes, I do! I have a cat called Mix that I love very, very much. I miss him a lot because he is back home in Madrid.
4- What's the weather like where you live?
Right now, kind of crazy. Really warm and humid and with lots of summer rains and storms.
5- Ice cream, frozen yogurt or gelato?
In this order: gelato, ice cream (I always thought that gelato was just the Italian word for ice cream...) and frozen yogurt at last just because I have never tried!
6- Do your family or friends read your blog?
No, only my boyfriend knows about it. He is very supportive and he told me he was proud of me for taking a step forward and starting mine.
7- what do you enjoy most about blogging?
All the thinking about what I will talk about, the pictures I will use...it takes me a lot of effort sometimes but still...I feel like in continuous brainstorming since I started!
8- First blog ever read
Honestly I can´t remember...
9- What do you want to get done before the end of 2012?
Quite a few things actually!!
First, finish my master's thesis, keep the blog up doing good things with it, take a German course and learn something from it (starting in Oct.); since I have already planned paying the gym, actually going to it and get fit, get the internship I want in the company I want and realizing that's the type of job I was looking for...keep loving my b/f at least as much as I do now.
10- When you shop, what do you buy the most of shoes, clothes, purses, accessories or make up?
To be honest, if I could I'd buy a lot of everything but since I can´t and I have quite control of myself, in order of preference it goes like this: make up/beauty related, clothes, shoes and in equal level purses and accessories.
11- What's one thing you can't not leave without?
I don´t know...there is actually not a single thing I couldn´t leave without out because I think that if you are strong enough you can over take any loss. Biologically speaking you can not leave without skin or at least one of your lungs. Life would be quite boring without make-up, clothes, going out, music, readin, sports, traveling or meeting people...right? My boyfriend probably would say he can not leave without rize, which is like his favourite thing in the whole world. I'd say that feeling like I've found my other half, I couldn´t leave without him. <3

I'm supposed to nominate 11 people and make 11 questions on my own. For that I need to think about it a bit, so I'll post it in the next few days.

Hope you all have a wonderfull week!!

DIY Face Mask for Oily/Acne Prone skin

Hello!

Today I want to bring you the recipe of one my favourite face masks. I've using it for the past 4 or 5 months and I can tell I've seen an improvement in my skin condition. It's very easy to prepare and you can use it as many times you want per week since it doesn´t cause sun sensitivity.

You need:
- one table spoon of honey.
one coffee spoon of nutmeg.
- one coffee spoon of cinnamon.

Why these ingredients?
  • Nutmeg Nutmeg comes from the dried kernel of seeds from the Nutmeg tree  mostly grown in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the West Indies. Nutmeg is a rich source of essential oil and saponin. Properties: Nutmeg has anti-inflammatory properties  making it effective for the treatment of severe or cystic acne reducing swelling, redness, and irritation of the skin. It also helps to improve tone and  skin texture.
  • Cinnamon Cinnamon, which has the scientific name Cinnamomum zeylanicum, has originated from tropical Asia, especially Sri Lanka and India.  It is obtained from the inner bark of several trees from the genus Cinnamomum that is used in both sweet and savoury foods. Properties: Cinnamon has antifungal, antibacterial and antiseptic properties, stops bleeding and acts as a plumper of blood flow bringing more oxygen to the skin, it helps remove blood impurities and helps in the healing process and it also acts as a natural exfoliant.
  • HoneyHoney is a sweet food made by bees using nectar from flowers. The variety produced by honey bees (the genus Apis) is the one most commonly referred to and is the type of honey collected by beekeepers and consumed by humans. Flavors of honey vary based on the nectar source, and various types and grades of honey are available. Properties: It has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and it has been used as a treatment for wounds and other skin problems for thousands of years. Honey is a humectant, which means it attracts and retains moisture helping to heal and sooth the skin.

How?

You mix everything together and you let it sit in your skin between 15 to 30 minutes. Then you washed with warm water carefully not to scrub your skin, finish off with cold water, pad dry and use your favourite toner/moisturizer. Mixture can be kept in the fridge for other uses, in fact I keep my honey in the fridge so the mixture it's more refreshing- and less messy- or I would prepare it a few hours before I use it to let it cool down.

Results?

These three ingredients together would help you reduce existing acne and probably prevent future breakouts by helping to the skin healing process and improving skin tone and texture. They are also effective in reducing acne scaring.
I find it works best if you have exfoliate your skin first and if you are constant using it two to three times a week. For skin crisis days, I've used 2 to 3 days in a row with soothing effects and no harmful side effects or weird reactions.

A bit of a DISCLAIMER here: I'm not whatsoever a dermatologist. Acne can have multiple origins, so if your acne is for example hormonal, this mask would only help you soothing existing breakouts and healing the skin, but it won´t cure your acne forever.Like everything else, what might work for some it might not work for others. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients or when you use this mask you notice any discomfort, don´t use it again. THIS IS WHAT I HAVE SEEN THAT WORKS BEST FOR ME WHEN IT COMES TO MASKS, BUT ONLY YOU AND YOUR DERMATOLOGIST CAN KNOW WHERE YOUR ACNE COMES FROM AND WHAT YOUR SKIN IS LIKE.

Let me know if you try it!
