New MUA £1 blushers review

I've had these blushers for months-I think I got them before summer- so it was about time that I shared my thoughts on them. At £1 for 2,4g, I couldn't help myself and I got all 6 colors available.

Overall, I find these blushers to be of AMAZING quality. The texture is velvety soft, easy to blend and very creamy. The powder is so soft that you have to be careful when dabbing your brush or there would be a lot of fall out. That concerned me at first as I was afraid it would look too powdery and fake on the skin, but not at all. The finish is creamy, almost semi-matt and natural. And the pigmentation, oh boy the pigmentation. These blushes are so pigmented that just a light-verily-there touch of your brush would be enough. I like this packaging better than the old £1 blushers, tho it isn't the more resistant ever. I also like how they don't take much space in my make-up bag which allows me to travel with more blusher options.

Now on to the colors:

(Left side) Bubble Gum: Bubble gum is a bright coral with a pink almost magenta undertone.

(Right side) Marshmallow: This is a bright Barby pink with a cool almost lilac undertone depending on the light.

These two have been my most used blushers these summer. I guess you could classified them as "summer shades" since both look amazing on bronzed skin, but with a light hand you can use them all year around. They bright up a lot the skin. I would say they are almost completely matte shades but they have a light sheen to them, tho no sparkles are visible. My favourite is Bubble Gum as I prefer warmer shades but I've grown to like Marshmallow too.

(Left side) Lolly: Lolly is a medium true Orange/peach shade that swatches actually brighter than what you would expect. 

(Right side) Cupcake: This is a light neutral almost dusty bronze shade with a warm undertone. When compare with an actual bronzer it looks slightly more pink.

Both of these shades have very tiny golden sparkles that are only visible when direct light is hitting the pan. On the skin the sparkles are not visible. The finish is semi-matte with a lovely glow that I enjoy very much. Probably these are the two shades that I would get the most used out of all year around. Cupcake is the lighter of the bunch and needs a little bit more build up than the rest- this doesn't bother me at all as the others are way too pigmented. I think it is a perfect shade for lighter skin tones, natural make up days or paired with a strong smokey eye. I'm not sure if you could use it as a bronzer as it has that warm pink undertone. Lolly is a gorgeous bright orange shade that can be worn all year around and for many skin tones.

(Left side) Bon Bon: Bon Bon is a medium warm dusty rose shade with no apparent sparkle but a lovely sheen finish. 

(Right side) Candyfloss: This is one is a dusty lilac rose shade with silver sparkles.

Bon Bon is my most reached shade at the moment. While it is a shade you can use all year around- I think it looks amazing on a summer night as it has a coral undertone- I find that it works specially well on the colder months. It reminds me a lot of Rimmel's blush in coral and this blush from H&M in tawny rose.

About Candyfloss, I didn't like it at all at first and I haven't tried it until recently. It might not show up in the picture but it is a true lilac shade and the one packed with most sparkles of all 6, even if again they don't show much on the skin. Much to my surprise it is a nice cool undertone fall/winter shade and while it is my least favourite I started to use it every now and then to change things up a bit.

Last week I went a little crazy about changing up my hair. You know how it goes. You get the idea in your head and you obsess over it until it's done. You need a change and you need it now! Since I couldn't wait any longer and I couldn't trust anyone to touch my hair- I only go to the salon like twice a year when I'm in Madrid- I didn't give it too much thought and decided to do it myself at home.

I'm not an expert by any means but after watching quite a few videos I got and idea of how I wanted to get it done. It might not be perfect but I actually really like the result as it turned out exactly how I wanted it to be.

Let's talk a little bit about skincare today. That's a tricky subject for me because it seems that whenever I rave about the wonders of some miracle skin product, it stops working on me and I have to step back on my words (funny, eh?).

I've decided however to fight my own fears and start reviewing the many skincare items I am using at the moment - while crossing my fingers to keep waking up to more or less healthy looking skin. I really hope you are crossing yours too at this same moment!

Ramblings, changes and new image

Well, well, well...it seems like I can't keep up with posts more than a week!! Even when I carry my computer everywhere and I keep taking pictures of everything. And yes, I've been busy with work and tired, because when have I not been busy and tired since the beginning of 2013? but now I have 1h and 1/2 of train distance to cover to go to work and the same on the way back. I don't have the "no time to blog" excuse. 

Oh, haven't I told you? We couldn't find and apartment in Geneva and our contract was over at the end of August, so we had no choice and now we live in the Canton of Fribourg in a small town where Deni had an empty apartment. Basically we live at the end of the world from my job at Geneva's airport. Hence, the extra train time for me every day.  Just so you know I'm someone completely used to live no more than 20 min away from anything and anywhere both in Madrid and during the past three years in Geneva. So it's been such a challenge for me to adapt to everything. 

This past week I've gone to bed around 22h every day and that's like extremely weird for me. More if I add that if I could I'd go straight to bed as soon as I get home. My body is so tired and lazy these days, but my brain would shut down and makes me have nightmares and wake up 3 times every night for no reason. No wonder I wake up tired, having this battle with myself every night!

Now, one thing that I'm enjoying so much about all this is the extra time with myself every day and the view from the train window while I listen to my favourite uplifting mood songs. 

When looking at everything as a whole, life is not that bad. We've been through lots of changes and more downs than ups...but we are still there so I guess that counts for something.

Talking about changes, have you notice something looking so good in my blog lately? =D

Finally I decided that I want to go somewhere with my blog and the best way to go back to blogging was a make over. New,name, new image. I wish I could say I'm the talented person behind this design but oh dear, I'm not.  The artist is no other that Kristen from KV's confessions. I've been following her for a while and I not only think that she is gorgeous inside and out, but extremely talented. I knew that if I ever wanted someone to perk up my blog, it'll be her. She was easy to work with, very patient and did exactly what I asked for. Also, I think her rates are quite fair and that's important when you are in a budget like me. 

She just started her dream job so go to her blog and say "coucou" from me. If you want a blog make over, you won't find better.

REVLON nearly naked quick review!

I was super excited when last week a found in Manor (the local department store here in Geneva) that the Naked line from Revlon had finally arrived!! and I was even more excited when I saw the price tag: only 17 CHF!! (around 15$)

Well, I guess "only" sounds a bit ironic comparing to the price tag at the States but considering than Revlon products are most of the time highly over priced here, I can't complain. 

I picked up the powder in 020 light. I would call this shade more like medium because it's pretty dark. However while it adds a slight hint of color to my skin, it remains quite natural and not that off on me.

The texture is quite creamy and I find it adds a nice amount of coverage to the skin. So it's perfect if you decide to combined with a tinted moisturizer or a light BB cream.

The effect on the skin is matt but natural and stays pretty well during the day. You can lightly dust it on the skin or apply it with a thicker brush and padding motions for extra coverage. 

Over all is a great powder! I didn't get the foundation because a) i didn't really find my shade and b) I have way too many foundations!!

Naked 2 vs. Undress me too palette - REVIEW

Probably you've heard this before but the NAKED 2 palette is probably my favourite neutral palette of all time. I believe I have featured it in a few of my videos. 

What happens when your favourite low cost brand comes out with an almost exact dupe?
You scream of excitement "UNDRESSED ME TOO"!! (after all you have to undressed to be naked... =P)

Yeah, bad joke there...but today I'm going to be comparing the Naked 2 palette with this palette from MUA called UNDRESSED ME TOO.

In a previous post I compared the original Naked with MUA's Undressed and I gave my opinion on MUA's eyeshadows in general. Click here for that =)

The first thing I would say when I look at both of them is that both are extremely similar- minus size and packaging of course.

Now, let's take a look at the eyeshadows.

Today I'll be talking about cheeks and a product that I'm enjoying a lot lately to help me get a natural and fresh complexion.

MUA BLUSH PERFECTION Cream Blusher

Described in the site as "very versatile and multi-purpose. They can be directly applied to bare skin, layered over foundation or set with the matching matte blushers in the £1 MUA range. You can use blush perfection to highlight your cheekbones, shape your face, build and blend with fingers or a brush to create the colour intensity"

Out of the 4 shades available I have 3: Blossom, Yummy and Dolly. The 4th one is Bittersweet a light baby pink.

Wedge sneakers. Are still on trend?

I know, I know...everything is already been said about the famous Isabel Marant wedge sneakers and its hundreds of high street dupes.

I hope you are not thinking something like "oh no, not again" or "your late on that trend girl".

Some people hate them, some people love them. 

it doesn't seem to be a middle ground with them

In my case, I loved them from the beginning but I knew my sanity wasn't going to allow me to spend such amount of money in a pair of sneakers.

I've been in mission since then to find the perfect dupe for me.

They've been around in Spain for a while but for whatever reason in my short visits in the past year, I had not been able to find a pair that would please me in terms of design and price. 

Well...surprise, surprise!! Wedge sneakers seem to be in trend in Geneva since the beginning of 2013. Slowly I've been seeing them make their appearance in shops and in walking feet of what you would consider "fashionista" girls. 

Of course, after so much waitting I couldn't let it go. After going all over the city looking for my perfect match, I found this lovely pair at a shop called Le Halle aux Chaussures (the one in Meyrin, for those who live in the area) at around 50CHF.

I'll be honest. I thought they were expensive.

But I love them! I am super comfortable with them, I pair them with anything and I have actually gotten some compliments while wearing them. And no one seems to notice the wedge, which is great for a small girl like me!

Never been happier of Switzerland going behind in terms of trends!

So...Last week MUA (Make-up Academy) had an amazing offer in facebook and I couldn't helped myself. I was extremely excited when I got my package in such a short time!

And what could me more exciting than turning on my camera and opening the package with you guys? At least for me, nothing!

So here you have it. What I ordered and my first impressions.

Believe it or not I have another order ready to go for next month or the next facebook offer. There were a few things out of stock and some others that I actually picked but since the page was having so many problems due to the big demain, never went through.

What kind I say? It's my obssesion, my passion.

Stuffed eggplant!

hello, hello!

I'm bringing you a delicious, fast, easy and healthy recipe today!

Maybe you've tried it already...or maybe not!

Try it and when you do let me know if it stands to its claims!

It will fill you in and keep you going through the day until dinner if you have it for lunch. Plus it's more healthy than you would imagine. My parents are dieting and this meal is on their plan!

For one serving for one person:

1 eggplant

50g minced meet

1 small onion

Garlic or any other herbs of your like

Tomato Sauce (better if it is homemade)

Cheese.

Cut the eggplant in half and draw some squares with a knife

Put 3-4 min in the microwave (it makes emptying the eggplant easier)

Once it is out of the microwave, empty the eggplant without damaging the outer part and save for later.

In a pan start cooking the onions, the garlic and the meet. Add salt and herbs as you like.

When the meet is almost done, after 7-10 min, add the eggplant. cook for 4-5 min and add the tomato sauce.

Cook for another 3 min.

Fill in the eggplant. 

I used a plate- I don't know why- but it is easier if you do it directly in an oven recipient.

Add some cheese and put it in the oven a few minutes to grill.

Mine doesn't really grill but...there you go!!
