I don't have the healthiest life style and that's something I need to change.
I've been dealing with skin problems since my early teens and probably is the physical defect that gets me the most and it really brings me down.
I've tried everything and for the most part I can say it's controlled, but every here and there my skin will get crazy and then it takes quite a lot of time to bring it back to normal.
Since I can't control at all abrupt changes in weather, hormones and life situations, I'm really taking care of what I put in my skin to try to balance it as much as possible.
There out there great brands that offer natural skincare products and at some point I will probably adventure and try some of them.
But for the moment, what's more natural that using natural ingredients that you can easily find in a common kitchen?
Not to forget that they are also friendly with your wallet =)
For the past almost two months I've been incorporating natural elements to my skincare routine and I want to share them with you.
I'm not going to lie. I don't have perfect skin (yet), but I'm getting there.
My skin looks and feels better, more healthy, balance and radiant.
And my make-up goes on better and it looks more flawless.
Having oily prone to break outs skin one of the biggest concerns and where people makes more mistakes is in cleansing.
You don't break out because your skin is dirty, but it can break out for cleansing too much or using harsh products.
I remember in my early teens trying all these drugstore 3 steps packs desperate to find a solution to my acne problem, when actually I was making things worse.
Your skin needs oil to be protected and keep the hydration levels. Harsh products would strip your naturals skin oils leaving your skin unprotected, dehydrated and in revenge your skin would produce even more oil.
If you remember anything from your chemistry class in high school, you would know that "like dissolves like". Meaning that if you want to dissolve the excess oil in your pores, the best way to do it is by using a cleansing oil method.
I've done a lot of search on the Internet and it seems to work for the majority of people. Of course, there are always exceptions. It depends on your skin.
For this method you would need a primary oil such as castor oil (anti-inflammatory, heals and cleanses) diluted in a thinner and less aggressive to the skin oil such as olive oil (for dry skin), sunflower oil (all skin types), hazelnut oil (good for acne), grapeseed oil and jojoba oil (the latest two mimic the natural oils from your skin, good for oily skin) .
The blend rations depend on your skin type and condition and it's a matter of error and try until you find the perfect combination for your skin.
I've used 50/50% castor oil/sunflower oil and I liked how it worked for me. I'm currently using equal parts of castor oil/hazelnut oil/jojoba oil.
I think I like this one even more.
Since your deep cleansing your skin I wouldn't recommend doing this everyday or it can be too much. Normally I do it every other day or every two days depending on my skin.
You don't need to take your make-up off before using the oil blend but sometimes I would use a cleansing water with no alcohol to remove my make-up.
You apply the blend to dry skin and you massage it for a few minutes (5-10), this way the oil would work through your skin targeting the impurities in your pores.
Soak a clean cloth in really warm watter and let it sit in your skin until it cools down.
The steam from the cloth will open your pores.
Wipe the oil away really softly, rinse the cloth and repite the process as many times as you need until you feel your skin is free of oil.
Et voilĂ !!
Healthy looking skin.

How interesting! I need to try using oil...
ReplyDeleteI really like using it! I'm doing some more research for my mixture and I'm thinking maybe the castor oil is too much. Then again, I just realized its a certain time of the month for me+finals so that could be why I'm broken out right now!
